Value System

Due to the nature of GHI's work, where a vigorous internal debate is required, it is essential to state the value system that must be upheld by the participants, in order to do justice to the mission.

The salient points of the GHI value-system are:

  • mutual respect for individuals
  • respect for differences in opinion
  • shun personality cults at all costs
  • never be dictated by who is providing the financial support
  • not say anything that could be construed as personal insult to a colleague
  • use parliamentary language in all interlocutions
  • full freedom to attack ideas and concepts of any kind
  • no idea shall be the sacred cow
  • full freedom to critique organizations and leaders
  • Hindus come from all parts of the world, who belong to all linguistc, racial and ethnic groups - no case for Indian Hindus vs. Overseas Hindus
  • always keep genuine critics in one's left pocket
  • an intellectual always keeps the politicians and businessmen at an arm's length
